Arden Pastoral Charge

The United Church of Canada

Minister: Kaitlyn Ostrander

Arden Pastoral Charge is comprised of three United Church congregations in the communities of Arden, Mountain Grove and Henderson, located in Ontario, Canada.

Welcome to our church family! We have a long history of serving God and helping one another. We especially value our summer visitors and seasonal residents who enjoy the beauty of the lakes and forests of this special place in the Canadian Shield as much as we do.

As one of our former ministers, Rev. Alan McCuaig, wrote in 1953, "One reason tourists come back year after year is that the people here are kind and friendly. As Christian folk we want them to feel at home and to know how much we appreciate their coming."

We hope you will join us this Sunday morning at one of our church services and return again to this website to discover the many events we host during the year.

Whether it is pancake breakfasts with local maple syrup, potluck suppers, BBQs, auction sales, or fresh made apple pies in the autumn; the friendly folks in the Arden Pastoral Charge continue to extend God's love and hospitality to their neighbours and visitors alike.

Arden United Church

Serving God and helping others since 1898...

The current church building in Arden was built by local families, dedicated and opened on August 15th, 1954. This new brick building replaced the former church which was destroyed by fire on March 5th, 1952. It had been built for the original Methodist congregation in 1898.

The Arden congregation meets for worship each Sunday morning at 10 am with a coffee time after the service.

The interior of the church features large stained glass windows behind the communion table. The pulpit was a gift from the Mountain Grove congregation. The Cross was a gift from the Matson family. The pulpit Bible was a gift of Professor J.M. Shaw, of the former Queen's Theological College in Kingston. The ceiling, featuring local pine, was a project the congregation completed in 2008.
